Arnold Edward Harner passed away in Rome, Georgia, on Wednesday June 3rd at the age of 67 surrounded by loved ones. Born in Lancaster, New Hampshire, on February 7th, 1959, Arnold grew up in Sebring, Florida. Soon after high school he married the love of his life, Lisa Mercer. They moved to Georgia in 1992. His love for the Lord lead him to become an ordained minister, youth pastor and minister of music. He also was employed in the Fire Safety industry and was the past president of the Georgia Association of Fire Safety Equipment Dealers where he traveled the state promoting fire safety education and training.


Over the years and through his many health challenges, he grew more in love with the Lord and his family. Other passions included motor sports, woodworking and worshipping through singing. Arnold was known for his infectious smile and never-ending sense of humor. Through it all and until the very end, he smiled and made us laugh.


Arnold is survived by his wife of 47 years, Lisa, son Justin, (Heather), granddaughter Anna of Acworth, sister Becky McIntyre (Raymond) of Sebring, FL, brother Darryl of Belleview, FL, and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Carl Wesley Harner and mother Anna Mae Swank Harner.

Family and friends are invited to join in the Celebration of Life service on Monday, June 8, 2026, 3:00pm at LifePoint Church (610 North Tennessee St. Cartersville, GA.).


Arnold's Florida Celebration of Life Service will at 3:00 pm on June 15, 2026, at the Lighthouse Church of the Brethren, 700 South Pine St., Sebring, FL.

Memorial donations in Arnold's honor may be made to AdventHealth Redmond, Cardiac Care Fund (501 Redmond Rd, Rome, GA 30165)

Arnold’s legacy will continue in the lives of all who loved him.

The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) understands that due to the flooding and damage caused by Hurricane Helene, many members of the medical and industrial gas industry may be experiencing difficulty in obtaining cylinders due to the increased demand for these gases or a disruption in the normal business model for cylinder exchange and testing facilities.

NFPA 96 2017 Edition

NFPA 96 2017 Edition, the currently adopted edition which does not change in the latest edition published by NFPA, requires that at minimum there be an audible OR visible indicator to show that the system has activated. In 10.6.2 it requires that IF the building has a fire alarm system the activation of the extinguishing system shall activate the building fire alarm system.

REMINDER: The Dalton Fire Department does not use third-party companies to perform fire safety inspections or any other services on behalf of the DFD. Earlier this year we told you about a fire extingusiher service company from out of town has been contacting local businesses in our area and using pushy sales tactics to suggest that they are offering fire inspections at the direction of the DFD but this is *not* the case.
Update: ANSUL CLEANGUARD Fire Extinguisher DOT Requirements

This Special Report updates a communication from back in March 2023. On May 23, 2023, the US Department of Transportation (USDOT) issued a revision to Special Permit (SP) DOT-SP 21502 for transportation of ANSUL CLEANGUARD fire extinguishers. The revision is the result of a DOT PHMSA editorial review of the Special Permit with intent to provide additional clarity.
